Prolific Goalscorer Dropped From Euro 2016 Squad

It appears that the French national team do in fact have some limits - apparently blackmailing your teammates is frowned upon by the Euro 2016 hosts.

Despite his impressive goal-scoring form, the French Football Federation announced today that Karim Benzema would not in fact be part of their squad at the Euros this summer.

The forward has netted an impressive 21 goals in 21 La Liga starts this season, averaging a goal every 78.1 minutes.

Benzema has not made an appearance for the national team since last October. He netted a brace in a 4-0 win over Armenia at the Allianz Riviera.

Antoine Griezmann, Anthony Martial, Dimitri Payet and Olivier Giroud will provide likely provide more than enough fire power for the home side.

As modern football dictates, Benzema took to Twitter to express his disappointment at missing out saying “Unfortunately for me and and for all those who have always supported me. I am not selected for our Euro in France …’
