Club-Record Bid from Watford Seals Spurs Midfielder Switch

The Gareth Bale money is on the move again as another fringe player departs Tottenahm. Watford have deemed Etienne Capoue’s 12 Premier League apps enough for a club-record deal.

The French international has been sold on for £7M just two years after making the move from Toulouse to North London for £11M. Since that time he’s made just 19 starts in the Premier League for Spurs and scored just a single goal.

Capoue has signed a four-year deal with the hornets and should expect to see a few more appearances than he managed at White Hart Lane.

Capoue had looked like a promising addition to Andre Villas-Boas’ midfield. But unlucky with injuries, he saw himself pushed down the pecking order to Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb under Mauricio Pochettino’s reign last season.

Watford remain in talks with Tottenham about Benjamin Stambouli. Should the sign him, he and Capoue could make their debut for Watford against away at Goodison Park on August 8th, while they would not be facing their former side until the end of the year - on December 28.
