Sergio Ramos Denies Latest Transfer Rumour

Despite rumoured unrest between Sergio Ramos and Rafa Benitez, the defender has not yet given up his role at Real Madrid to work as a security card for the popular supermarket Mercadona. Nor has he taken on a second job to supplement his £140K a week wages.

Safely outside the confines of the transfer window and not in need of another improved deal, The Ramos saw fit to clear this rumour up quickly, tweeting: ‘I want to officially deny that I have not been signed by Mercadona’.

While he did say he's not signed, it does not mean there could not be a deal in place from Mercadona or even Dia. It may even be his chance to make the move to England and link up with Tesco. Every little helps

Sergio Ramos Learns the Dangers of Diving

According to the club website, Sergio Ramos has been diagnosed a with dislocated acromioclavicular joint in his left shoulder.

Although it didn't appear to be injured following his theatrical tumble in Shakthar Donetsk's penalty area during Real Madrid's 4-0 win last night, the captain was substituted after 59 minutes.

The centre-half was not the only player to give Rafa Benitez cause for concern. Gareth Bale had already come off earlier in the match with an ankle injury.

No return date has yet been set for either player, but the club will be hoping both will be fit for their derby on the 4th of next month.

Perez Adds Insult to Injury in Casillas' Farewell

1 is the Loneliest Number
You know that moment when you’ve been a daft prat and your mates have pointed it out. So you try to atone for your social faux pas and most definitely make it worse. That is Florentino Pérez.

After realising that maybe, just maybe he shouldn’t have let Iker Casillas sob his way through a farewell speech all on his own - he forced the goalkeeper to attend a second ‘ceremony’ today in a bid to save face.

It didn’t work.

Although they made the effort of building him a platform laden with the trophies he’d won over his 17-year career at the club, a mere 2000 fans were there to see him off - sort of.

Rather than support for a fantastic goalkeeper, captain and servant to the club chants rung out through the ground of “Florentino, resign!” and “Sergio Ramos is not for sale”. Not exactly the farewell that someone of Casillas’ stature deserved. And certainly not one that would come close to repairing the damage of leaving him on his own on Sunday.

The “ceremony” as it were became a platform for Pérez to waffle on and admitted that he called Casillas in at the last minute “so that people don’t think that there is anything strange”. It didn’t work Florentino, it didn’t work.

Casillas sat in the front row listening to claims of him being “irreplaceable” - while knowing that he’s only leaving because he is, in theory, about to be replaced by De Gea. And Pérez’ claims that he’d always defended him. A shambles of a send-off anyway you look at it.

Why Iker Casillas agreed to show up and help his former employer attempt to save face is beyond me. If it’s simply out of a love for the club and debt of gratitude to the fans, it makes the whole scenario even more uncomfortable.

Casillas bids a tearful farewell to Real Madrid

The Sincerity of Social Media
Iker Casillas brought his tearful farewell statement to and end today with eloquent simplicity - “c’est fini”. He has spent the last 25 years of his life at the Real Madrid but found himself alone this afternoon as he confirmed the end to an era.

The Spaniard made the difficult decision to leave the club he’s been at since being a spotty teenager to ensure that David de Gea usurps just once this year rather than twice.
