Fabian Delph: Villa. No City. No Definitely Villa ....

Well this is terrible awkward ...
Things could have got awkward for Fabian Delph had he he publicly declared that he was staying at Aston Villa and become the poster boy for loyalty in football…

Just 6 days after Delph triumphantly announced that he was “proving there is still loyalty in football” and that he would be staying on at Aston Villa he has passed his medical at Manchester City after triggering his release clause.

This of course has seen social media go into an absolute meltdown as they decide whether he’s made a U-Turn or the lesser known O-Turn. At very minimum, it legitimises each and every person who incorrectly uses the term of someone doing a “360”.
Semantics aside, Manuel Pellegrini is chuffed at Delph’s re-decision and told the club’s website “Fabian Delph is an excellent player, and I am looking forward to working with him. He has made a huge impact in recent seasons at Aston Villa, and is now one of the brightest young midfielders in the Premier League.”

“Fabian has tremendous skill and energy, and the fact that he has become a regular member of the England squad is further evidence of his progress over the past few seasons. At just 25 years old, he still has his best years ahead of him.”

Delph has yet to dig his hole any deeper by issuing any sort of statement at this point. However, Delph’s turnabout could in part have been impacted by Liverpool triggering Christian Benteke’s release clause. The Belgian is expected to complete his medical with the Merseyside club over the weekend.

Although we suspect Benteke’s imminent departure is one reason Delph has joined Manchester City, we have an inkling that there are 100,000 other reasons (a week) he just might have changed his mind.
